The North Carolina Senate makes guns easier to get without background checks.
The North Carolina Senate amended sweeping pro-gun legislation making it easier to buy a handgun without a background check. It allows for the private purchase of guns in the state without a permit. Background checks and a permit would be needed only when buying from licensed dealers, but not from private purchases, including sales at gun shows.
This is just part of a larger gun package making its way through the Republican controlled legislature. This amendment would become part of the package that the Senate is taking up after the House passed it. The bill includes provisions to allow guns in locked cars at all public colleges and schools in the state. As well as at parks, bike paths and restaurants that serve alcohol. Attendees at a funeral will be allowed to carry a gun, along with people participating in parades. Judges, registers of deeds and court clerks would be permitted to carry guns during a work day.
Conservative legislation has dominated the current North Carolina Session. Current proposals include overhauling the states tax system and creating an official religion. Yes you read that right, an official religion. That is a complete violation of the First Amendment. Republicans talk of protecting the Second Amendment at the cost of every other Freedom we have.
This is the first year in more than 100 years that Republicans have controlled both houses of the legislature and the Governorship of North Carolina. Hopefully for the state this will be the last time for the next 100 years.
State Democrats question the logic of the Gun Bill. The State Democratic Spokesman told the Huffington Post ” Republicans in the General Assembly have no concept of consequences. They have shown that time and time again. Guns and Alcohol don’t mix. Guns at town parades or at playgrounds with our children are unacceptable. Guns on campus makes our college students less safe. To add insult to injury this legislation undermines our local Sherriffs ability to make their towns and cities safe.”
Republicans nationwide seem to want to poke President Obama in the eye. After Sandy Hook, President Obama and Democrats pushed for Gun Reform. The Gun Reform legislation was stopped by a Filibuster, supported by Republicans, who were funded by NRA Lobbyists. Since Sandy Hook about 5,000 more people have been killed by gun violence. Republicans seem to support chaos, both economically and socially. They seem deadset on a Fuedal Society controlled by wealthy corporations.
Why can Chevron have access to email data but Republicans don’t want NSA have access?
While Americans and ignorant Conservatives complain about the NSA seizing email data, something more disturbing happened. A Federal Court granted Chevron, yes the corporation, access to 9 years of email meta data. This data includes names, time stamps, detailed location data and login info, but not context.
This data will be taken from activists, lawyers and journalists who criticized the company for drilling in Ecuador, while leaving behind toxic sludge and leaky pipelines. Since 1993 Chevron has lost numerous appeals and has payed about $19 billion to cover the cost of environmental damage. Chevron alledges that it is a victim of extortion, which is why it asked Google, Yahoo and Microsoft, the owner of Hotmail, to give them email data.
Federal Judge Lewis Kaplan of New York granted the Microsoft subpoena last month. He ruled it didnt violate the 1st Amendment because Americans weren’t among the people targeted. But evidently Americans are included. This brings questions to the validity of the subpoena. The First Amendment allows Americans to speak anonymously. A different Federal Judge stopped Chevron’s attempts to seize documents from Amazon Watch, one of Chevrons most vocal critics. That judge said the subpeona was a violation of the groups First Amendment rights.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) represents 40 of the targeted users. Some are members of legal teams and at least one of the targeted Hotmail users is American. Nate Cardoza, attorney for the EFF, says that many of the Yahoo and Gmail users are American.
This seems a desperation move by Chevron. They cannot seem to win any of these legal battles, because they are of course guilty. In 2011 alone Chevron payed $9 billion in damages and was forced to make a public apology. Chevron refused, therefore the damages were doubled. They were more comfortable paying $18 billion than saying “We are sorry”. The U.S.Supreme Court has declined to hear Chevron’s appeal.
I find it odd that Republicans attack President Obama about the NSA collecting email, despite the fact they knew about it, but say nothing about a corporation collecting email data. Most Republicans have recieved a portion of the millions of dollars spent lobbying D.C. each year. The Oil Industry alone spends about $100 million a year on lobbying. Democrats again have to protect our Constitution. Republicans only protect the parts they get paid to protect, 2nd Amendment, sponsored by the NRA. So apparently Republicans are fine with corporations having your information. But not the President they hate because he is a Marxist and Socialist.
The Haunting of the Hillman Family and the Warrens.
In May of 1977 Ed and Lorraine Warren recieved an odd phone call. There was a bizzare series of clicks and odd whirring sounds followed by the voice of an unfamiliar woman.
” I hope you can hear me. My name is Hillman, Mrs Jeanne Hillman. I don’t know exactly what has happened here but my children have been hit and…. chased by something. And there is something or someone in the house, upstairs, in one of the kids bedrooms. Please call me back just as soon as you can.”
It was 12:40 A.M. when Lorraine called back. The phone rang continuously and then hung up. The second time it was like someone picked up but the phone kept ringing. The third time she got the same response. She then called the operator, who also got the same response. His supervisor ran a test and said the line was in perfect working order.
The next morning on the way to church they were assaulted by a rank; powerful smell of excrement. They were assaulted again in church and in the car on the way home. There was no way to associate the atrack with the upcoming case. When they arrived home, they phoned the Hillmans and told them what happened the night before. The Hillmans said they did not recieve any calls after midnight. The Warrens arrived at the Hillmans in mid afternoon.
When they arrived Ed sat down to interview the family, while Lorraine walked the house. All members of the Hillnan family were there. The father Al, 35, mom Jeanne, same age, and their 3 children. Dee, 15, Bob, 14 and Melanie, 11. The mother and father made it clear that they did not experience anything. Jeanne did explain that Dee was interested in the occult, had a small library, and that Jeanne hsd bought her a book on conjuring demons for Christmas. Dee explained that she did some of the easier rituals, but nothing happened so she quit. Ed told her that demons answer in their own time.
When asked what happened Dee said she just finished a shower. She went downstairs to lock the door, turned the radio and lights off as well. When she got to her room, she heard the faucet running in the bathroom. She turned it off, saw the lights on downstairs and the radio on. She went down and turned them off again, came back upstairs and the faucet was on. She turned it off and the lights and radio were on again. No one else turned it on.
The radio was changing stations by itself. Then the kids heard footsteps and the furniture slamming around downstairs. Her hair was pulled 3 times and she ran into her brothers room. They called their parents, but the parents said they were imagining it. The second time was more of the first. This time an invisible force pulled Dee partially off the bed. The kids ran out of the house, the downstairs was like a furnace.
The entity chased them up the street. The birds were screeching on the left side and dogs were running away from them backwards. They ran for the streetlight. Safely under it, it started to dim, so they ran further up the street. That is when they felt safe.
Lorraine let Ed know there was an inhuman entity. They asked the family to leave. Ed and Lorraine went room to room in the house blessing it. Ed throwing holy water in the 4 corners of all the rooms. When they went to go upstairs they smelled the dank smell of mildew and a shadow shot into one of the rooms. When they attempted to climb the stairs, it was like a force wouldnt let them pass. They went back down and heard diabolical laughter. Ed threw holy water on the steps and preceeded to climb them.
They blessed every room until they reached Dee’s. When they opened the door and they felt a horrible sense of misery, although there was nothing there. The room was freezing cold. Ed threw holy water into the 4 corners of the room and commanded that the demon show itself or a sign of its leaving. Almost instantly the feeling went away. The Warrens gathered Dee’s books and conjuring candles and trashed them.
Ed informed them the demon was dormant. That they should get the house blessed immediately. They should attend church once a week. They should make positive changes to counteract the negative ones they had made. In full view of everyone, Lorraine’s eyeglasses looped in the air and smashed to the floor. Breaking only the left lens.
Satans Harvest-Ed and Lorraine Warren, the possession of a farmer
One of the most bizzare cases of demonic possession occurred in Warren, Ma. in the mid 80’s. The case involved a farmer, was witnessed by police and was resolved by Ed and Lorraine Warren. The entire case is documented in the book Satan’s Harvest.
As a child Maurice “Frenchy” Theriault lived a hard scrabble life in the New England area. He worked long hard hours on his fathers farm and dealt with the abuses his father doled out. His father became more violent toward him as he got older. Frenchy called for help from anyone, unwittingly asking Satan to help him. At some point in his teen years, Frenchy was forced to watch or participate in horrific sexual acts in the barn, although who or what happened was never really clear.
As time went on Frenchy noticed he was much stronger than he should be and also had knowledge of things he had never learned. He was forced to quit school to work on his fathers farm. His attempt to join the Army was foiled by his father as well. After he left home he floated around the New England area for several years before settling in Warren. The spring of 1985 he and his family began to notice signs of the unusual with Frenchy. He turned his guns into the Sherriff and asked him not to return them. The family would hear voices when no one was around and things would move throughout the house and farm. Frenchy would lose chunks of the day and fires would break out all over the property. This brought them to the attention of the police.
The most disturbing activity was the other Frenchy. He would be in a room and appear to his wife in another room. She would follow him and find him in exactly the same place he had been. This happened in front of others as well. A physical and psychological exam showed nothing. This is when the Warrens were called in.
The Warrens arrived with their team of investigators. They immediately witnessed dozens of examples of an evil presence and the events intensified the longer they stayed. Team members were often followed home. There was alot of poltergeist activity, as well as physical attacks. All of the team members came under atrack. They were either involved in the activity or experienced severe mood changes. Frenchy tried to turn to God to end the exorcism but this only resulted in more attacks. While reciting the Hail Mary, Frenchy became so violent he tried to choke his wife.
The Warrens called on Bishop Robert Mckenna for an exorcism, although it was not cleared by the church. During the exorcism the demon identified itself as “I am what I am” and “You say I am proud”, also invoking the name of Kingdom. The exorcism was successful, despite Ed Warren almost losing his life. The sight is still experiencing smaller phenomenon. Frenchy was later arrested for sexual abuse of a minor and he also recieved a nice chunk of change from the damage the demon had done. The Warrens reputation remained as good as ever, despite the critics constantly challenging their credibility.
