Manufactured scandals, the new GOP.

In the six years President Obama has been in office have been very eventful. Most of the high profile “events” turned out to be absolutely nothing. Darell Issa swore he had a smoking gun, the one that would impeach him. John Boehner has actually filed a lawsuit against the President because of his ” liberal” use of executive orders. Then a few days later said the President should act alone on immigration reform. These are a few examples of the insanity that D.C. had become.

Lets cover Benghazi. Republicans shamelessly exploited the death of four Americans in an attempt to hurt Hillary Clinton and unseat President Obama. The Republican led House of Representatives led 8 investigations into the incident, forged emails and even made CNN look horrible with a first hand witness account that was a lie. Darrell Issa has been like a dog with a bone on this, relentlessly pursuing any possible misdeed. Even lying in an effort to trash the President. The eighth investigation proved what the first 7 said, the Obama administration and Hillary Clinton were not guilty of any wrong doing. So the fiscal watch dog Tea Party wasted millions of tax payer dollars on utter nonsense. All they really needed to do was look at who cut funding for embassy and overseas security. Thats right!! The Republicans.

The IRS scandal. The IRS was accused of targeting Tea Party 401c tax exempt organizations. In the opinion of Republicans President Obama ordered the IRS to do the targeting. Turns out that after the Citizens United decision the IRS was targeting all groups. In fact the only ones that were denied tax exempt status were liberal ones. Another scandal DEBUNKED!!!!!! The VA scandal. The Obama administration spent about $60 billion more on the VA in order to accomadate Vets coming home. They were unable to do so and numbers were intentionally falsified to make it look as if they were meeting obligations. Again this had zero connection to the Obama administration other then his appointee. The outraged Republicans it turned out just shot down aid for Vets. Hypocrites i do say.

I personally do not agree with everything Democrats do, nor with President Obama. I always tell people to look at the Monsanto Protection Act r the super secret Trans Pacific Partnership. These are true scandals that are not recieving any coverage. But these arent scandals that would destroy President Obama, so they arent good enough. Although I do not agree with Democrats on everything, I disagree with Republucans on most things and the hateful Tea Party on everything. The Republican disdain for the average American is perplexing to me. I cant understand why normal people vote for them, it is not in their best interest.

Our country, i repeat, our country will never be the same or better again if we cannot get past this hyper-polarization. The hate and despicable actions of so many are directly ripping apart our political spectrum, as well as our morals. I am hopeful that we can move past this. Find our way to what we truly can be. To me, a Democratic society relies on many different forms of government to truly work. Our country is slipping from Democracy into an oligarchy. Lies and venom towards a sitting President is not the answer. But for some it seems to be all they have.

What happens when a Congressman doesn’t listen to the NRA?

Senator Pat Toomey is beginning to see the answer to that question. Toomey a Republican from Pennsylvania helped author the Manchin/Toomey Gun Bill, which of course was shot down, against NRA wishes. Before this he had an A rating with the NRA. Who are the NRA to rate any of our Senators? They are a lobbying group.

The Virginia based National Association for Gun Rights is running a smear campaign against Toomey for that Bill. The Bill required background checks on all gun sales, internet, gun shows and the classifieds. Current law only requires background checks on sales conducted by Federally licensed dealers. They are trying to connect Toomey with President Obama. They are attemptimg to connect him to the manufactured IRS, Benghazi and the NSA scandal. All of which have been proved fruitless. But Toomey is a conservative Republican who is on tge other side of most issues with President Obama.

Toomey now sees what Democrats deal with during each election cycle. Each election cycle the NRA and NAGR go into full attack mode. Portraying anyone who disagrees with their lobbying stance as trying to rob people of their Constitutional rights. All these Senators were trying to do was create sensible gun laws that might help prevent another massacre like Sandy Hook. Lobbyist attack Democrats for going to the bathroom the wrong way. This is what they mean when they say corporate America, politicians owned by corporations and lobbyist groups.

Republicans now on the other side of these attacks, now aren’t so convinced that Super-Pacs are right. They are also questioning the Citizens United decision. They haven’t felt the full effect of lobbyists and corporations trying to get you out of office. Maybe now Campaign Finance Reform can get done. Maybe this will help break the gridlock and help Gun Reform and Immigration Reform get done. But then again any Republican that goes against the grain finds themselves on the outside looking in. The Republican party looks to regress any progress made in America, how else do you explain their support of the Supreme Court gutting the Civil Rights Act. Republicans are beginning to dislike the system they created, it is now hurting them.

Why isn’t Congress even talking about Gun Control?

On December 14, 2012 a man entered Sandy Hook Elementary School. He went on to shoot 26 people, includ ing 20 children. He used an AR-15, with 30 round magazines. After this happened Democrats and President Obama were intent on passing some sort of Gun Control Reform passed. They were stopped by the NRA and the money they used to lobby Republican Senators and even a few Democrats.

The Manchin/Toomey Bill was bipartisan legislation that improved universal background checks and prosecuted anyone found guilty of creating a gun registry. It wasn’t perfect but it was an improvement over our current system. It was stopped ghost because of a loss in a Filibuster vote, 54-45, 5 Republicans voted yes and 5 Democrats voted no. That was the end of the Gun Control conversation.

Now 7 months after Sandy Hook the conversation is dead. About 4,500 people have been killed by gun violence since then. More children have killed with guns then terrorist attack deaths on American soil in that time. Yet we seem to have accepted defeat and conceded to the NRA and the Koch Brothers. Our form of government was defeated by corporations and lobbyist. Democracy in this case seems to have failed us.

To put this in perspective, you have to register a car and get insurance in order to drive it. You don’t have to do either to get a gun. To buy a house, you have to have an inspection, they thoroughly look into your credit history and you have to have insurance. None of the above for guns. Republicans are against sex education for kids, but are fine giving them a gun. To me this is perplexing. Guns are meant to kill people, homes and cars are not.

So why aren’t we talking about this? Is it tge manufactured IRS and Benghazi scandals? Maybe the focus on Immigration Reform? Maybe Congress just doesn’t care? Whatever the reason, it needs to change. It us a discussion we need to have. The Second Amendment meant more when we were establishing ourselves as a country. Not so much now. My question is for Congress. If we don’t address Gun Control now, then when?

Representative Elijah Cummings calls out Representative Darrell Issa for dishonesty over IRS Scandal.

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md) threatened to release the full IRS transcripts if House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Ca) refuses to. Cummings said ” I want every syllable of those transcripts released. If he does not release them, I will. Period.” Issa’s response was that he thought releasing them would be reckless. Reckless to the Republican crusade to impeach President Obama?  Staying true to his word Cummings released them.

The transcripts appear to contradict what Issa said. There was zero evidence that the White House ordered the targeting of Tea Party groups, which Issa said was the case. The Huffington Post reports that Republican and Democrat staffers interviewed IRS official John Shafer on June 6 about the agency’s decision to target Tea Party groups applying for 501 (c)(4) tax exempt status. Shafer is a self described Conservative Republican.

Via the Huffington Post.

Throughout most of the interview, Shafer describes the mundane bureacratic challenges of dealing with incoming applications for non-profit status. He said his team the firsr Tea Party application because it appeared to be a high profile case and he wanted to be sure all high profile cases recieved similar attention. “What I am talking about here is that we end up with 4 applications coming into the group that are pretty similar and we assign them to 4 different agents, we don’t want 4 different determinations. It’s just not good business. It’s just not good customer service.”

When asked plainly “Do you have any reason to believe anyone in the White House was involved in ths decision to screen Tea Party cases?” Shafer replied ” I have no reason to believe that.” Asked if he ever communicated with then IRS Commisioner Douglas Shulman about the screening of Tea Party cases. Shafer replied “I have not.”

Interviewers also asked Shafer if he told his screeners to specifically pull team party cases. He replied “Again I was not asking them for those kind of cased. If I would have directed them to pull our Tea Party cases, little Susie’s Tea Party would have been pulked and it wasn’t.”

Rep. Issa and the Republican party are guilty of overeach in their quest to discredit President Obama. Issa was convinced he had the goods to dicredit the Obama administration, when he found out he didn’t, he hid the truth. This narrative is strikingly similar to the Benghazi “scandal”. Where a Republican doctored the emails before passing them on to the press. That’s a no-no. This is why in a previous post I focused on Rep. Issa’s criminal history. It is important because it showed ge was willing to do illegal things to get what he wants. It showed what he was capable of and my reason for publishing it prove true. This is proof of the Republican party’s utter disregard for truth to get their desired outcome.

Chineese military and Republican party found using same spying tactics on Liberal organizations and Unions.

In February a firm called Mandiant and the New York Times revealed that the Chineese military is engaging in a sophisticated campaign of internet spying and cyber attacks targeting U.S. Corporations and government websites caused widespread alarm. What hasn’t been noticed is the Chineese plot has a lot in common with a Republican conspiracy to spy and sabotage Liberal advocacy groups and Unions. A plot developed on behalf of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 2010.

Mandiant identified the plot by looking through a database of hacking tools. The tools were managed by the same individuals associated with the American firm that had been enlisted to help the Chamber of Commerce execute its spying and hacking plan. That was before it was exposed by the hacking group Anonymous.

Attorney’s for the Chamber were caught negotiating a contract to launch a cyber campaign using similar methods as the Chineese. These could reportedly be used to cripple vital infrastructure and steal trade secrets from Fortune 100 companies. The Chamber was seeking to undermine its political opposition, including the Service Employee International Union (SEIU) and MoveOn.org. Anonymous again revealed the plan.

Un January 2011 the Chamber recieved a CD with target data. The targets discussed were Labor Unions, SEIU, IBT, UFW, UFCW, AFL-CIO, Change to Win, as well as Progressive organizations like the Center for American Progress, MoveOn.org, Courage Campaign, the Ruckus Society, Agit-Pop, Brave New Films and others. The tactics described in the proposals are illegal. There were no discussions in the leaked emails about the legality of using such tactics. The Chambers lawyers and the contractors quibbled for weeks about the appropriate compensation for these hacking services. At one point, $2 million was demanded.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is a powerful business lobbying group that had become a fully functional part of the Republican machine. Republicans condemned President Obama and the NSA for the surveillance of phone and internet activity but hypocritically do it to those who disagree with them. At least the NSA and the Obama administration are doing it in the name of National Security. Republicans condemned the IRS and the Obama administration for targeting Tea Party groups, which Mitch Mcconnell said President Obama was not involved with. Yet hypocrite Republicans do the same type of subterfuge to undermine Democrat leaning adversaries. Republicans are caught in this, yet the conservative media does not report it. I guess that is what happens when you own most of the media.

Republicans need to get their priorities straight.

Republicans have the nations attention focused on the IRS and NRA “scandals”. While they have our attention, other very important things are slipping by. The Banking industry’s dirty practices are coming to the forefront, but no one is listening. They are concentrating on subjects that should be resolved but Republicans are hiding the truth.

Bank of America’s practices are coming out and they are dirty. They were taking bribes to delay paperwork to cost homeowners more money. Telling homeowners they didn’t recieve the paperwork, delaying their applications for HARP, causing them to be denied. These illegal practices led to illegal foreclosures that cost real people their homes. But apparently this is not important to the Republican party, who are to concerned with finding a way to impeach President Obama. That is solid governing skills right there.

Every attempt at reforming the Banking Industry has been met with harsh resistance. Elizabeth Warren has made this her baby, she is attempting to fix it so average Americans don’t have to suffer at the hands of these wealthy banks. Republicans and even some Democrats are in the banks back pockets. Bank Industry lobbyist converge on the capital everytime Bank Reform comes up. Republicans are fine with the status quo, the American people are not. It is time for a change. The midterm 2014 elections are the key to change.

This has become a country where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The Income Inequality in our country is one of the highest of all developed countries. The Republicans keep the attention off of important subjects in order to avoid them. Avoidance is not a form of government. Now Republicans want boots on the ground in Syria, another unnecessary war where Americans will die needlessly. Republicans didn’t support President Obama on Libya, where he achieved regime change with no American lives lost. The hypocritical Republicans need to govern, to compromise in order for this great country to remain great.

To be secure or not to be secure, make up your mind.

After the Boston Marathon Bombing the media was complaining that we should have known something. How could the CIA have known anything if there were no phone taps? Obviously the government doesn’t listen to calls or this tragedy would have been prevented. Republicans are hypocrites who helped create the Patriot Act, but now they don’t like it. Rand Paul wants to file a civil suit, well I want to file one against him for every person that died of gun violence since he helped vote down the Manchin/Toomey Gun Bill.

I am sick of the hypocritical nature of our society and government. They want something done, find o ut something is being done and throw a hissy fit. Republicans stop creating scandals and create jobs. Help our economy instead of hindering it and the rich have gotten enough breaks, close the Tax Loopholes and get Tax Reform done. It will help with our National Debt you claim to be so concerned about.

Why are Republicans killing Immigration Reform? They want to deport kids who were brought here illegally by their parents. How is that their fault? What happened to Republicans engaging Latinos, trying to work with them to gain their votes. Just more Republican lies, if you aren’t giving them money you are not important. They are the party of NO, lies and manufacturing scandals. If they cannot win or buy victory they will try anything to get rid of you.

So the government is tracking our phone data, who cares. How is that violating Civil Rights? I have read the 4th Amendment and as long as a court says it is ok, it is legal. Democrats need to stick with President Obama, that is the only way the American people will see improvement. The polarization of this country is sick and most comes from the right. If you want to secede, do it, no federal money for you. Red states get a lot more government aid then Blue states. So buh-bye crazies.

Republican attempts to scandalize President Obama with IRS now moves on to the amount of White House visits.

The Republican desperation to connect President Obama to the IRS scandal is getting out of control. They are focusing on IRS commissioner Douglas Shulman’s name appearing 157 times on the White Housr public visitors record between 2009-2012. Bill O’Reilly called it a smoking gun and demanded Shulman explain under oath why he was there 157 times. He question the White House’s reason that the IRS was working closely with White House aides on the ACA. This is another Republican calling the White House and President Obama a liar. These people should have solid proof of wrong doing before accusations fly.

But public meeting schedules available for review show that very thing. Shulman was cleared primarily to meet with administration staffers involved in the implementation of the ACA (Obamacare). He was cleared 40 times to meet with the Director of the Office for Health Reform, 80 times for biweekly health reform deputy meetings and 20 others set up by aides involved with the ACA implementation efforts. 140 of his 157 supposed visits are taken care of right there and that’s before you add in meetings with the Office of Management and Budget personnel involved with the ACA.

Blurring the picture and making the numbers more difficult to attain are that just because he was cleared to go, doesn’t mean that he went. Routine events have a standing list of those cleared to attend, people whose appointments would have been logged and forwarded to the check in gate. There is no time of arrival information to confirm whether Shulman was actually there or not. His name is on the list, that is all Republicans have to go on.

Of the 157 events Shulman was cleared to attend, White House sign in records confirm only 11 events over the 2009-2012 period and the time of departure for 6 events during that period. When asked recently the reasons he might be at the White House Shulman responded ” Um, the Easter Egg Roll with my kids, questions about the administration of the tax policy they were thinking of, our budget, us helping the Department of Education streamline application process for financial aid.”

So again Beck, O’Reilly and Republican news outlets are getting carried away. They are part of the Republican machine trying to find a way to impeach a President they hate. The Republican attempts to scandalize the Obama administration and Democrats is already hurting them. President Obama’s approval numbers aren’t much worse than usual, only his approval numbers with Idependents have been affected, they are a tough crowd to keep on your side.

I am not sure if Republicans realize President Obama is in his second term. It seems as if they are trying to stop him from getting reelected. The Republican party would do well to focus on policy instead of searching for ways to tarnish a man’s name. Republicans voted 37 times to repeal the ACA, costing us about $50 million, that is not what I call fiscslly conservative. That could have funded the partially defunded Meals on Wheels for Seniors. But why work on policy when scandalizing someone is that much easier.

The 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constition.

           The 16th Amendment passed Congress on July 2, 1909, ratified on February 3, 1913. Article 1, section 9 of the Constitution was modified by the 16th Amendment. It goes as follows;
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

Basically it says that it is up to Congress to set the amount of taxes and collect them. How the money that is taxed is made does not matter. It will not be split up between the states and the census and amountvof people will have zero effect on how the tax system works.

That sentence holds a small bit of information about an extremely large issue. Tax Reform, how should it be done? As I stated above Congress has the power to set the tax levels. They are responsible for the revenue that keeps our country running. There is no mention of lobbyist or outside groups in the 16th Amendment. Nor is there a mention of outside groups helping to set the tax levels. I also didnt see any mention that Congress had the right to take an anti-tax pledge with a lobbyist. So Grover Norquist anti-tax pledge means nothing.

We have established that the Republican trickle down economy doesn’t work. In fact ot has horrible economic consequences, look at the state we were in 2008. We were hemorrhaging jobs, the housing market crashed, Stock market was trashed and banks were going belly up at an alarming rate. We can also agree that austerity doesn’t work. Look at Europe and look at how the Sequester slowed job growth. Obviously you cannot cut your way to prosperity.

If there are any millionaires out there who made their millions solely by cutting spending please speak up. What us needed is a balanced aporoach. Yes we should make cuts, but a least dollar for dollar with tax increases. Right now it us about 6 dollard spending cut to 1 dollar in tax increase. That will not get us where we need to be. Unfortunately Republicans will cut off their nose to spite their face. They cannot see logic because of their vile hatred for President Obama.

Apple recently was in the news for Tax Avoidance. That was $6-$9 billion in taxes that wasn’t collected. In 2010 GE did not pay a single dollar in taxes, I paid more that GE. How many more companies are doing this? How many billions of dollars in tax revenue are not collected because Republicans do not wantva fairer tax code? The extreme Republicans, Tea party members want to abolish the IRS and pay little or nothing in taxes. Our founding fathers knew taxes were essential, why don’t Republicans?

President Obama’s agenda is working. We are digging out of the recession despite Republican obstruction. The stock market and housing market are both recovering. Our debt ceiling crisis has been pushed back by several months by his measures. Imagine where we would be with Republican help. Unfortunately all they have to offer is vitriol.

Darrel Issa curiously forgets own criminal record while attacking the White House.

I find it funny (not haha) that Republican Darre ll Issa so casually throws criminal allegations around. Darrell Issa has a long record of criminal charges and convictions. Why does the mainstream media neglect to mention this? How does he slip by the media without having to account for his own wrongdoing? How does someone with a checkered past get appointed Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee?

Darrell Issa was convicted of auto theft, carrying a concealed weapon and insurance fraud. He faked the theft of his Mercedes Benz. Not long after that there was a suspicious fire in a building he owned. The fire broke out several weeks after he upped the insurance from $100, 000 to $400, 000. He also did a few other things insurance agents found curious. He put important electronic prototypes into a fireproof box, removed the companies computer and financial files in the days leading up to the fire. The insurance company refused to pay the claim and eventually settled out of court. Despite insurancev investigators suspicions they couldn’t prove anything.

Issa claimed he had been a soldier, that was part of an elite bomb detecting unit that guarded President Nixon at the 1971 World Series. Calls to the Nixon Presidential Library dispute that claim. They said that Nixon did not go to any World Series games that year. This lie has people questioning his “exemplary” military service record.

These allegations helped lead to Issa losing his Senate bid in 1998. He went on to win a House seat, where he worked to recall the Governor of California. Now this known criminal is calling the White Housr liars. He said that his GUT FEELING says the White Housr has something to do with the IRS scandal. I guess the American public should trust a criminals GUT FEELING.

In a brief and repugnant interview, Darrell Issa abused cherrypicked evidence, overstated his case and scrapped the principle of presumed innocence. He then called White House Press Secretary Jay Carney a paid liar. When pressed on what Carney was lying about, Issa responded” We’re getting to proving it.” Those are some intense allegations to throw around without proof to back them up. If he finds out he is wrong, will Issa apologize or use the Republican selective memory and forget he said it.

Representative Issa lobbing allegations like this is reminiscent of a disturbing part of American History, McCarthyism. Senator Joe McCarthy said he had a list in his hand with 205 names. A list made known to him by the Secretary of State as being members of the Communist party. This was a dark time in American Hisrtory where accusations meant more than facts. To this day there is some dispute over the actual number McCarthy said.

The Republicans are so desperate to hurt President Obama they no longer care about facts, if they ever really did. 7 weeks into President Obama’s first term they started calling for impeachment, no reason other than getting him out of office. Republicans have a history of jumping the gun. Democrats, despite what conservatives think have a history of a better economy and unemployment rate. But you guys keep electing known criminals. Good luck with that.
