The contreversy surrounding the Catholic church has been ongoing. Pope Benedict XVI has been trying to route the church through some trying times. In my opinion, giving the benefit of doubt, he has been worn down by these problems instead of dealing with religious issues. The Catholic church seems to have become its own enemy. They preach of truth & compassion but do not seem to practice either.
The Popes resignation is being linked to anetwork of gay prelates, some of whom were being blackmailed. He recieved a massive internal report presented by 3 Cardinals in December. He ordered the report after the arrest & conviction of the Popes butler, Paolo Gabriele, who was found guilty of confiscating documents from the papal apartments. The report said that several factions within the Vatican were breaking commandments, including the 6th (thou shall not steal) & the 7th (thou shall mot commit adultery), commonly used for homosexuality. The 6th commandment mention seems to be about the Vatican banks recent issues.
The report said that there were factions ” united by sexual orientation”. The papers said that Vatican officials had been subject to “external influence” from laymen with whom they had links of a “worldly nature”. The report said it was a clear reference to blackmail, although they did not mention what the blackmail was. The report said there was a series of meeting places all across Rome, villa ,a sauna, beauty parlor & a former university residence that was in use by a provincial Italuan Archbishop.
Since announcing his resignation the Pope has twice seeminly referred to machinations inside the Vatican. Saying that divisions amongst the Cardinals would mar the face of the Catholic church. He warned his prelates of the temptations of power.
This Pope liked to condemn other people quite a bit. He attacked liberal doctrine & politics. Not to mention his attacks on capitalusm & the free market, while agreeable, should not be made by the mouth of the church. He argued that pedophile priests cases should be taken in context of the times, referring to a sexual revolution. He theorized that it was because PORNOGRAPHY REGARDING CHILDREN was accepted by normal society. Courts have forced the church to release thousands of documents proving the existence of the Popes personal involvement in the orotection of pedophile priests. The stats of protected priests & defrocked ones were not reliable.
I dont know anywhere that child pornography is acceptable, people are normally jailed over it. From what I read nothing will happen to the prelates involved in this network, the church said no further action would be taken. To attack homisexuals the world over but to protect one because he is a priest is wrong by any stretch of the imagination. If it is wrong dont pick & choose stand strong. I said in an earlier post that the Catholic church is full of hypocrites, right to the top. My message to the Catholic church, people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones. Please think about that before you attack everyday people.
