Why can Chevron have access to email data but Republicans don’t want NSA have access?

While Americans and ignorant Conservatives complain about the NSA seizing email data, something more disturbing happened. A Federal Court granted Chevron, yes the corporation, access to 9 years of email meta data. This data includes names, time stamps, detailed location data and login info, but not context.

This data will be taken from activists, lawyers and journalists who criticized the company for drilling in Ecuador, while leaving behind toxic sludge and leaky pipelines. Since 1993 Chevron has lost numerous appeals and has payed about $19 billion to cover the cost of environmental damage. Chevron alledges that it is a victim of extortion, which is why it asked Google, Yahoo and Microsoft, the owner of Hotmail, to give them email data.

Federal Judge Lewis Kaplan of New York granted the Microsoft subpoena last month. He ruled it didnt violate the 1st Amendment because Americans weren’t among the people targeted. But evidently Americans are included. This brings questions to the validity of the subpoena. The First Amendment allows Americans to speak anonymously. A different Federal Judge stopped Chevron’s attempts to seize documents from Amazon Watch, one of Chevrons most vocal critics. That judge said the subpeona was a violation of the groups First Amendment rights.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) represents 40 of the targeted users. Some are members of legal teams and at least one of the targeted Hotmail users is American. Nate Cardoza, attorney for the EFF, says that many of the Yahoo and Gmail users are American.

This seems a desperation move by Chevron. They cannot seem to win any of these legal battles, because they are of course guilty. In 2011 alone Chevron payed $9 billion in damages and was forced to make a public apology. Chevron refused, therefore the damages were doubled. They were more comfortable paying $18 billion than saying “We are sorry”. The U.S.Supreme Court has declined to hear Chevron’s appeal.

I find it odd that Republicans attack President Obama about the NSA collecting email, despite the fact they knew about it, but say nothing about a corporation collecting email data. Most Republicans have recieved a portion of the millions of dollars spent lobbying D.C. each year. The Oil Industry alone spends about $100 million a year on lobbying. Democrats again have to protect our Constitution. Republicans only protect the parts they get paid to protect, 2nd Amendment, sponsored by the NRA. So apparently Republicans are fine with corporations having your information. But not the President they hate because he is a Marxist and Socialist.

Religion and Politics a bad mix.

Any law maker who uses religion to make political decisions is letting the people down. It is a recipe for madness and zealotry. It will breed contempt between people not to mention different religions. The U.S. Constitution prohibits any type of state religion.

The fact that politicians are using religion to make decisions, is forcing religious beliefs on others. The 1st Amendment forbids us from setting up a state religion, to push religious beliefs on others violates our freedom of religion. The religious argument Republicans make against abortion are Unconstutional. When the Roe v. Wade decision was rendered it became Constitutional law, which in the U.S. overrides religion.

If we let religion become part of our government, we will be no better than the Middle Eastern countries. What would be that Catholic version of Sharia Law? Our Constitution was written to stop religion from becoming part of our government. Knowing what has happened in other countries that were ruled by religion should have educated our elected leaders. But apparently the Republicans didnt get the memo.

Democrats support our Constitution and believe in it. They believe in religious freedom and support women’s reproductive rights. Republicans call for smaller government but want to control all women’s uteruses. Democrats want immigration reform, they ended both wars and do not force the religious ideas down anyone’s throats. What is more important to government, Religious belief or the Constitution? YOU CHOOSE.

Governor Jindal’s attempts to government subsidize private and religious schools dealt a blow.

Governor Bobby Jindal’s push to overhaul the state education system was dealt a major blow recently. The Louisiana Supreme Court ruled the state cannot fund it’s landmark voucher initiative with money allocated for Public schools. Governor Jindal, a Republican, vowed his scholarship program will move forward, despite the Supreme Court decision. He pledged to find another revenue source to pay for it.

It is one of the most ambitious voucher efforts ever in the U.S. It has been set up to take money from student state allocations and use that to cover the cost of attending private or religious schools. In its ruling, the court said Louisiana’s minimum foundation program- the states per student allocation for each student to attend a public school-  cannot be used for anything else. The court made it clear it wasn’t passing judgement on the program itself. The decision dealt only with the diversion of dollars meant for the public schools that the court struck down 6-1.

Louisiana Association of Educators, the Louisiana Federation of Teachers and the Louisiana School Boards Association brought the case to the court. Justice John Weimer wrote ” the clear, specific and unambiguous language of the Constitution” doesn’t allow the government to divert funds for public schools to pay for private or parochial schools. Critics say that this is an attempt to have taxpayers subsidize private and religious schools. Roughly 8,000 students have been approved to receive school vouchers in the coming academic year.

Jindal said ‘We’re disappointed the funding mechanism was rejected, but we are committed to making sure this program continues and we will fund it through the budget. The bottom line is that our kids only get one chance to grow up and we are committed to making sure choice is alive and families can send their kids to a school of their choice.” Jindal has been a vocal critic of the American Public School System and Teachers Unions. He claims they give students no alternatives to failing schools. Critics have noted that schools accepting vouchers teach to different standards. In many cases, schools were teaching creationism, which is in direct violation of the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. In other they were teaching of the existence of the Lochness Monster, is that really important. Others offered no services for special needs children or children with disabilities.

Jindal’s voucher schools teacher lessons such as slaveholder owners weren’t bad to their slaves. That the KKK wad concerned with morality. Klan targets were bootleggers, wife beaters and unmoral movies. This is another Republican attempt to privatise public schools and break up another union. Private and religious schools are not held up to the same educational standards as public schools. Their curriculum is not approved by anyone other than the church or staff and they do not have to meet the same levels of reading and math scores because they are not required to report them.

The problem with our public school system is socio-economic. The poorer the district, the lower the test scores and grades and the lower the funding they recieve. Democrats and Republicans have been going back and forth over this for at least a decade. Privatization is not the answer, privatizing education makes it about profit not education. A good example is the Kids for Cash scheme in Luzerne County, Pa. Juvenile facilities were privatised and 2 judges were convicted for receiving money for illegally placing children in these facilities.

The answer lies in better teachers, smaller class sizes and even funding per school. But with the state of our current government nothing will get done. Anything President Obama tries to do is immediately met with Republican resistance. Maybe if he told them that he and the Democrats hate public school and Teachers Unions Republicans would throw their support behind them. It might be worth a shot.

Republican ideology us fundamentally flawed, elections are only proof I really need.

The Republican party is perplexed as to why they cannot win a Presidential election. After what George W. Bush did to our country, how fan you blame people for mistrusting your party. He lied us into a major war, didn’t pay the tab for both wars we were in and his economic policies decimated our country. Yet Republicans push the blame on President Obama and expect the country to forget what Bush and his cronies did.

The Republican party now says they want to reach out to Latinos, yet one Republican lawmaker from Alaska called them “wetbacks” and the Heritage Foundation, a Republican thinktank, had a known racist assist in writing their immigration study. Of course you can’t forget Rush Limbaugh and the prophet Glenn Beck for their wonderful support of women.

Instead of focusing on our economy and creating jobs, they are focused on Benghazi. Yes it was a tragedy, we already had hearings, figured out the problems and put things in place to hopefully prevent it from happening again. Remember there were 11 attacks on embassies/consulates during Bush’s tenure, with about 60 deaths and not one Republican called for a Congressional hearing.

While Republicans are busy protecting our 2nd Amendment, they continuing stepping on our voting rights and our 1st Amendment rights. I guess the money the NRA gives them not only overpowers 90% of Americans, but also our Constitution. They force creationism and their religious beliefs on abortion on us. Abortion us legally protected by our Constitution, which also days Federal law is the law of the land. So why don’t states follow or.

Democrats offer more stability and are there for all the people, not just 7% of them. Compromise is the true key to Democracy, when one side won’t compromise nothing will happen. So until Republicans realize it is not their way or the highway we can never move forward as a country.

Greed and America.

Republicans speek of the Free Market as if it were miraculous. They try to sell the rest of the population how important it is and how it goes hand and hand with the American way of life. They do not mention that many suffer horribly because of the greed involved in the Free Market. A market where profits outweigh common sense.

Republicans and conservatives believe regulations cripple the Free Market. They neglect to mention that capitalism in its true form nearly sank our economy and that these believers in the “Free Market” were the first to bail these companies out. That doesn’t sound like a Free Market to me, that sounds like tax payers subsidizing Private Enterprises. That there is a bit of Socialism.

Yes I said that evil word, socialism. Republicans only believe in anything when it works for their needs. Look at how they are attacking our voting rights across the nation, can’t win fair,  they cheat. These same Republicans who so fiercely support capitalism and the Free Market give corporations almost $200 billion a year in corporate welfare. Yet they attack the $80 billion spent on Food Assistance for low income Americans. Each dollar of that $80 gets a return of $1.84 into the economy.

The Free Market and Capitalism are just words used to cover their true agenda. At first this may sound conspiracy like,  but read and put it together. In each state Republicans are gerrymandering and attempting to make it harder for poor folk to vote. They vote against gun reform, which is strongly supported by Americans. Are against gay marriage, support the Sequester, voted against VAWA, are attempting to cut SNAP benefits, voted against Sandy Relief, want to Privatize Social Security and Public Schools and want to cut Medicare. Please remember this is just a partial list. Why would they these things and who do they affect? Mind you they voted no to raising taxes on corporations and wealthy people.

This is class warfare. They are attacking the weak, those who cannot politically protect themselves. An American voices their political opinion through voting. Republicans believe if they can control who votes the country is theirs. Their vision for America is not a Democracy with civil liberties, but a religious State controlled by a few. If you are reading this you already realize there is something wrong. If they get their e
Way we will live in something that resembles a Dictatorship.

I am a Liberal Democrat, but I am ashamed to say that many of these Democrats are our only bastion of hope. They do not stand united and turn their backs on President Obama. We need strong leaders who will protected our Democracy. We need strong leaders to keep Republicans honest and to limit the power money has on our government. Lobbying needs to be limited. We also need to realize that there are people worldwide and in our country that want to harm us. Please do not incite these lunatics with ill thought out rhetoric.

44% of Republicans believe an armed rebellion may he necessary.

44% of Republicans believe an armed rebellion may soon be acreality in the U.S. As for Independent voters, 27% indicated that guns would soon be used to settle the country’s political problems, according to a Fairleigh Dickinson University poll. The partisan gap, about whether armed revolution will play a role in America mirrors the difference on gun control. While 50% surveyed said that gun control was important to protect the public, only 24% of Republicans agreed, while an incredible 73% of Democrats favored gun legislation, according to the survey.

The idea of using weapons to prevent a democratically elected government from doing the will of the people began with the Koch Brothers funded Yea Party protests. Republican and conservative “experts” inflamed right wing supporters that the U.S. government was infringing upon the peoples rights. Republicans, with support from the Koch Brothers,  claim their liberties are being infringed upon because the Constitution prevents them from opposing religious edicts on the people. 1st Amendment is there for a reason.

What the Republican threats of armed revolution really shows is that anything that isn’t in line with Republican ideology is an assault on their liberties. They believe that gay rights, contraception, gun control, free and fair elections are reason enough for an armed uprising. Nearly half of all Republicans chosen form of government is fascism, Democracy be damned. Democracy, which is one the best forms of government in world history, but because we elected a Democrat as President, nearly half of all Republicans believe armed revolution may be necessary to protect their liberties. In order to impose an authoritative regime.

It is difficult to imagine Americans abandoning Democracy for another form of government. There are a large number of Republican inspired people who hate our representative Democracy that they are leaning heavily towards an armed overthrow of government and installing a fascist dictatorship. This transition has Bennett done in plain sight and with full cooperation and assistance from establishment Republicans and state legislatures nationwide. If Americans are foolish enough to believe the Republican use of armed revolution is predicated on the right to unrestricted firearm possession, Democracy is already doomed. All that is left is to hand the power to a Koch Brother installed fascist regime.

President Obama was hated before he became President. He is hated because he represents change, not just in politics, but in the face of the country. Whites are no longer the major majority we have been in the past, the melting pot has truly become just that. The Republican ideology scares many minorities as well as many white people. This alone gas caused many to be wary of any policy Republicans put forth. This is the party that said if you didn’t support the Iraq war you were un-American, but yet calling for an armed revolt is not.

Treasonous calls for armed rebellion from new NRA president and Tea Party.

Jim Porter was just introduces as the new president of the NRA. He said that President Obama is a fake president. He also called the Civil War that war of Northern aggression. He seems like a wise pick for the position. He is also calling for armed rebellion if states enact gun control of any kind.

This is the same organization that thinks it is a good idea to store a gun in your childs room. That seems like a really wise idea. It is odd they would mention something like this just days after a 2 year old was shot dead by his 5 year old brother. These are the people calling for an armed revolt because their rights are being infringed upon.

The sad part is that a good portion of Republicans support this Koch Brothers edict. The Koch Brothers fund and feed ideas to the Tea Party movement, where the armed revolution talk started. They believe that any kind of background checks or common sense gun laws are an infringement of their rights and reason enough for an open revolt.

This is treason, calling for open revolt against s Democratically elected government where both parties are represented. Anyone that is inciting this or financially supporting this should be incarcerated. People can get hurt and most likely will with the right wing firing up these jack wagon nut jobs with assault rifles. Any Republican calling for this should be relieved of their seat and face charges for inciting a riot. Of you want to play with fire, you most assuredly deserve to be burned.
