Republicans are harmful to America.

Republicans have gone out of their way over the last 5 years to make President Obama look bad. In the process they have hurt the American people and the way the rest of the world views us. It is a party of whiners who throw pity parties when they lose and do not accept anything unless it agrees 100% with their party agenda.

They are against Immigration Reform. They subscribe to the theory that all of them should be deported. In fact Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney believed in self deportation. They do not agree with a Path to Citizenship, saying it is amnesty. Didnt Ronald Reagan do Immigration Reform somewhat like this?

Republicans have obviously declared war on women. They refused to vote for VAWA, because it protected Native Americans, among other things. State after state governed by Republicans have declared war on Reproductive Rights. One restrictive Abortion ban after another, yet there has been a grand total of ZERO jobs created by the Republican majority in the House.

Supporting banks that hurting homeowners through illegal practices. Siding with the NRA on the Gun Control issue. Railing against the Supreme Court DOMA decision, voting to repeal the ACA 37 times. Cutting funding for embassy guards then blaming the Benghazi incident on Hillary Clinton. This list of offenses against the people of the United States goes on and on.

Democrats, while not anywhere near perfect, have done a lot more for the people than Republicans. Republicans conservative agenda hurts America and every state they are in the majority. If women’s uteruses were jobs women would be safe from Republicans and their lobbyist masters.

Pennsylvania needs to dump the GOP in 2014

I live in Northeastern Pennsylvania. This is a Democrat heavy area, as is most of Pennsylvania. Gerrymandering has given our state a Republican Governor and House majority. Although the state overwhelmingly voted for President Obama.

Governor Corbett has proposed so many pro-business bills, you would think he was a Natural Gas Drilling Lobbyist. He has given corporations hundreds of millions of dollars in tax cuts while cutting State Health Care and education budgets. He refuses to let Pennsylvania take part in the ACA, because people on Medicaid get too much for free. The state has sunk to 49th in job creation under Corbett, he says too many Pennsylvaniabs are on drugs. Stats tend to disagree.

Republicans suspend the laws of the State Legislature when they don’t suit them. They invoked God’s Law when the States only openly gay Senator wanted to talk about the Supreme Courts decision on the DOMA case. They refused to let him speak. Sadly Republicans are doing this nationwide as well as in Pennsylvania.

Democrats in the State have fought Corbett at every step. They have stopped much of his conservative agenda. But the only true way to stop his unconstitutional methods is to vote him out. No voter apathy, Voter Restriction Laws cannot stop us, he needs to go. Our children and our state deserve better.

With Prop 8 and DOMA out of the way, the grassroots movenent for legalized marriage in all States begins.

The Supreme Court in two 5-4 decisions, paved the way for legal same sex marriage. The spouses now will recieve the Federal Benefits of their partner in only the States where same sex marriage is already legal. These are landmark decisions for the LGBT community and a big win for civil rights.

Now efforts to ban same sex marriage are now intensifyig. As well as those trying to repeal those bans. Lawsuits by the LGBT community for the right to marry are also expected to intensify. The rulings set up State by State battles for same sex marriages. In Arizona supporters of sames sex marriage began circulating petitions to repeal the 2008 ban on same sex marriage by way of a ballot measure. Arizona is one of 29 states with Constitutional Amendments limiting marriage to one man, one woman.

Gay rights activists supported by Democrats hope to repeal bans in several states. Oregon, Ohio and Arkansas hope to do so with ballot measures as early as next year. In Indiana and West Virginia, Republicans hope to institute Constitutional bans, being that they are more durable than laws. Hawaii’s civil union law, adopted in 2011, is hoping to make same sex marriage legal. They have the support of Governor Neil Ambercrombie, who supports the right to same sex marriages.

Indiana, with the support of Governor Mike Huckabee, will consider a ban in January. Possibly putting the question to voters later next year. Republicans in West Virginia suggested there is an urgent need for a Constitutional Amendment to ban same sex marriage. Lawsuits are threatening bans in several states. Michigan and New Mexico are both facing legal challenges to their States Constitutional ban on same sex marriage. New Jersey is facing a legal challenge to the law denying same sex marriage.

My home State of Pennsylvania is still in the dark ages. In fact Republicans enforced Gods Law when openly gay State Rep. Brian Sims (D) attempted to speak to the legislature about DOMA and Prop 8. I thought religion could not be forced on anyone, religion should have nothing to do with politics. Rep. Sims plans to introduce a Bill legalizing same sex marriage. Pennsylvania is the only state in the Northeast that does not extend legal recognition to same sex couples. It us in fact 1 of only 5 states that doesn’t. The legislature in Pennsylvania is controlled by Republicans and Governor Corbett (R) openly opposes gay marriage. His 3 Democrat challengers ,who he trails by as many as 11 percentage points, all support same sex marriage.

These were huge victories for the LGBT community. But it is only the beginning of a larger battle. President Obama supports same sex marriage, so does Hillary Clinton. Republicans of course stand in the way of progress, but would you expect anything less. The party of no, is now the party of HELL NO!

President Obama represented Hope and Change. What do Republicans represent?

When President Obama took his first oath of office it was in front of more people than ever before. He ran on Hope and Change and he truly attempted to do it. He did get a lot done for Americans, although he ran into Republican obstruction at every step. His first 4 years were tumultuous,  mostly because of Republicans. Our economy was improving we were getting closer to getting out of 2 wars. He was getting things done.

His second term started off with a very ambitious State of the Union. He wanted gun control, to strengthen the middle class, allow gay marriage, raise the federal minimum wage and equal pay for women to name a few. Republicans immediately came out attacking trying to prevent these things. They have won on a few, list on a few and looked like complete fools at other times. But President Obama is a persistent guy and will accomplish many of these things. Democrats will work together and further the Presidents domestic agenda. We will see social improvement.

To show how limited Republicans are in their attacks, they have had one major attack since 7 weeks into President Obama’s first term. They wanted to impeach him 7 weeks into his first term. They wanted to impeach him because he was destroying the country, by using executive orders. They wanted to impeach him 9 months into first term starting an impeachment petition. They wanted to impeach him for immigration, his real birth certificate, over DOMA, over Fast and Furious, The Debt Ceiling, to obstruct him from pursuing his agenda, because Russian will declare war on us, if he doesn’t extend the Bush Tax Cuts and he should be impeached over Gun Control and also because he aided and abetted the Black Panther Party to further his fascist agenda.

This is plain ridiculus, they lost the election and instead of standing with the President, they are searching for ways to get rid of him. If they compromised and met him halfway and country would be in a better position, economically and politically. But instead they incite hatred of a man who is attempting to help Americans.

The sad part is that our country suffers for thus shenanigans. We need leaders who are wiling to work together to further our American agenda. I am sure they truly care about something aside from themselves but Republicans are failing to show that. I am afraid that Republicans are going to damage our country beyond repair and Democrats will let it happen. But instead of despair I am hopeful because the American spirit and will will somehow overcome the nonsense and more leaders will make solid decisions.

Republican party seems to find their way to the wrong side of social issues.

DOMA has been called a mistake and a bad piece of legislature by Bill Clinton, the president who signed it into law. The American public supports gay marriage, Democrats support it, people in the Republican party support it, but only 3 out of 277 Republican elected representaives support it. Why again does the conservative movement stick with antiquated ideas? Why do they refuse to acknowledge the people?

The answer to these questions I believe are simple. Look at who and how many contributed to Mitt Romneys campaign. He raised alot of money from alot less people. The answer lies there. It is in the money, the contributors drive these ideals and provide the funds to keep them alive. Without the influx of billionaires money the Republican party would have to adapt and truly change their message. Until the money dries up nothing will change.

To say people only get married to procreate is ridiculus. How many people get married and dont have children, are you going to revoke their right to marry. Allowing homosexuals to get married will not ruin the institution of marriage, I dont belive it can be ruined. If it could divorce would have finished it off. Please dont bring religion into this, it does not belong there. If you want religion in government, move to Iran and see how you like it there.

We need to look at this like the civil rights movement. When we look back at segregation and the way African Americans were once treated it makes most of us sick. This is only 45 or 50 years ago. In 1967 the Supreme Court repealed a ban on Interacial Marriages. So there is a precedent set for the Supreme Court to get involved in cases like this.

Hearing Hillary Clinton, President Obama and Joe Biden come out for gay marriage gives me hope. Many other Democrats also vocally support this. Everyone deserves to be treated equally, we are the United States. I really hope we can get past this bigotry and move forward to real issues. This shouldnt even be an issue.

DOMA, everyone is entitled to pursue happiness.

I realize that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was signed into law by Bill Clinton. It even passed both houses. I will make no excuse for this. For a government to determine who can get married is wrong. The Constitution us not a tool to attack certain race, sex or sexual orientation. It is a tool to help Democracy thrive.

If two people want to get married, who are we to deny that right. It doesnt matter if it is 2 men, women, talking horses or a man and woman. There is nothing in the Constitution that states otherwise. To take the side of a religous institution violates our 1st Amendment rights. There is not an established religion in the U.S. for a reason. We have religous FREEDOM.

I heard the arguement that people only get married to procreate. What if a man and woman get married and dont have any children. Should they not be allowed to be married? This is why we try to seperate church and state. A governing official does not have the right to push his religion upon me. So religiin should gave nothing to do with the DOMA decision.

This is a simple matter, LET THEM GET MARRIED! Why deny a human being their right to pursue happiness because you disagree with their choice. It is their choice not yours. Let them make it.
