John Boehner claims the American people don’t want a Congress that does anything.

Another preposterous claim from the party that has cornered the market on absurdity. Speaker of the House John Boehner is trying to convince himself that his do nothing ways are acceptable to the American people. Just another insane claim from the Republican party.

Congress has about a 30% approval rating on its best days. Yet Speaker Boehner and the Republican party are trying to convince the people or themselves. This Congress has done less than any Congress since the 1940’s. Even less than the one before this. They abuse the Filibuster in order to stall any bills President Obama tries to pass.

This is a Congress that refuses to even pass a law that forbids the sale of guns to a person on the Terrorist list. So they knowingly support the NRA in selling guns to terrorists. Democrats are furious about this, as well as the American public. So how does John Boehner come to the conclusion that the American public wants a do nothing Congress. Why is this party so deluded?

This is the same party that called President Obama a do nothing President. If the people want a do nothing Congress, why wouldn’t they want a do nothing President? Republicans arguements tend to fall in on themselves because they are based in lunacy. But keep beating the drum for Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell and Ted Cruz. They will successfully drive this country into the ground. Yes, their party will wave and cheer the whole way down.

Congress is unhappy with Sequester. News Flash so are we.

With a government shutdown pending, Democrats and Republicans alike are filing amendments to the Sequester, a hundred or so. The Sequester which was a fail safe to force both parties to the table has been embraced by Republicans. John Boehner said he got 98% of what he wanted in the Sequester deal. Paul Ryan said the cuts that effected children and the elderly were good cuts. No more revenue is the rallying cry.

In Paul Ryans budget proposal he got rid of the military cuts in the Sequester, which Ryan wanted, and in fact he adds $2 billion to the military spending. They are trying to get rid of military cuts because of the effect it has on military contractors, large contributors in many cases to Republican officials. Now what bugs me is that these people got what they were looking for and are now trying to weasel out of it. Ryans budget proposal gives another 12% tax break to the wealthiest Americans, while turning Medicare into a voucher system.

Democrats tried to avoid the Sequester but their Republican counterparts thwarted all efforts. This is obviously a gross negligence on the part of the Republican party. Democrats propose a budget and now Republicans come out in defense of the middle class. The Sequester is effecting more than just the military but you wouldnt know it. When 2014 elections come around remember which party dod what.

The Sequester was President Obamas brainchild, but 170 Republicans voted for it. Please remember when Mitch Mcconnell talks about job loss because of Democrat budget proposal, that he was all in favor of the Sequester. Which will end up costing us in the range of 750,000 jobs. You do the math.

Accountability

Accountabilty, is something that is seriously lacking in this country. From top to bottom we always find an excuse why we couldnt do it or did it. As much as our people are guilty of it members of our government past and present are worse off. Many just do things and expect us to forget, but now it is immortalized with the internet.

Look at Richard Nixon. Tapes came out that prove he caused the Vietnam war to last longer. LBJ had brokered peace in 1968, he announced the end of the war on Thursday. Saturday peace was called off. Nixon told the allies he could get peace if he got in office, because of this the war lasted 5 more years with 15,000 American deaths. Why didnt LBJ say anything? The FBI illegally recorded calls from South Vietnamese embassy.

George W. Bush and his Republican cronies lied us into the Iraq war. He sold everyone on WMDs and mushroom clouds. The Democrats stepped right in line and voted for this war. Over a decade later we never found a single WMD or nuclear weapon. About 110,000 Iraqui civilians died as well as how many Americans. For a lie or was it a grudge? What is going to happen to Bush and Cheney, will they face prosecution? I doubt they will be held accountable either.

Mitch Mcconnell, John Boehner, Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan led us into the Sequester. Cutting money from programs that help children and elderly. Finding a back door to stop cuts to the military, so they get the cuts they want but not the cuts they agreed to but dont want. They get the cuts they ask for but its not enough. These men blamed it on President Obama but they all voted for it and said how much they liked it. They are obviously not held accountable.

Please tell me how you expect average people to be accountable when our leaders arent accountable to us. It starts there, a parent leads a child, a government leads a nation. Leaders believe in accountability, why dont ours.

Science books or guns, South Dakota chooses guns.

I know we need to stop school shootings, I have 2 kids in school and I am scared. But dont teachers already have enough responsibilty? Why would you give a gun to someone who already has that much on their plate. Have armed guards at stations and silent alarms in each classroom. More guns does not create safety. What if teacher cant get to the gun, what if a kids finds it?

Of course the NRA and Republicans will push the more guns idea. The NRA lobbies for the gun industry, more money for them and Republicans have the NRAs gand in their pocket, so more money for them. So think on this, do Republics or the NRA have our childrens best interest in mind?

If they did wouldnt they protect education funding, health care and food stamps to ensure our childrens health. These are all things the Sequester cuts, things Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor and John Boehner are for. These people wish to protect the 2nd Amendment as they infringe on our 1st Amendment. They are trying to teach creationism in school, which forces religion on our children. But as always Republicans and the extremist right wing Tea party pick and choose which parts of the Constitution they want to enforce.

South Dakota said they will arm teachers in school. Where is this money coming from? The education budgets are being cut by Sequester and were already underfunded. Please telk me where the money is coming from? Do they intend to stop teaching science to put guns in classrooms? Which sounds inherently dangerous to me. We need protection from radical elements of our government and the Democrats and the Obama administration need to be our bastion of hope.

If we cant get past Sequester how will government pass the next test.

With the Sequester here & slowly kicking in, we now must turn to our next big test. On March 27 if our government officials cant work together our government will SHUT DOWN. The money will run out, no one will get paid. This is the big one.

The Sequester will be felt by people, regardless of what the GOP says. Paul Ryan, Mitch Mcconnel, Eric Cantor & John Boehner got what they wanted in Sequester. They want more spending cuts but refuse to give any more revenue. If we closed tax loopholes we would save almost $200 billion, that woukd cover the Sequester & more. That would seem a brighter course to balancing the budget & reducing debt. But it is not an option.

President Obama cannot let the Reuplicans hold the American people hostage anymore. We need him to be a strong leader, as he has been since day one, & push these domestic terrorists into doing what is right for the PEOPLE. Our leaders should not work for a % of people because they give the most money. That is why a government shut down us looming. Please dont kick the can to June or August, do your jobs!

In a Democratic government no one is going to get everything they want. This type of government thrives on compromise. Our country was built on progressive ideas, lets keep progressing.

Sequester or close tax loopholes?

To me this is an easy question to answer. Get rid of tax loopholes that allow the wealthy & corporations to get out of paying taxes. The Sequestration is easily avoidable if both sides come to the table. Democrats & Obama said they would cut entitlements but Speaker Boehner & Republicans say no to closing loopholes.

Closing loopholes is technically not a tax hike. It is just removing a slightly legal maneuver no longer legal. How can the Republican party not get on board? It seems to me that they want the Sequester. Speaker Boehner cares more about speakership than governing.

As easy as this should be, is as hard as the GOP has made every step President Obama has taken. I find it crazy that they are trivializing these cuts. They want more border control yet the positions will be furloughed. Kids will not have headstart or health care. Yet Paul Ryan & Eric Cantor pushed for the Sequester. Education is going to be effected, programs for elderly will not be funded.

How out of touch does a party have to be to hurt a sluggish economy. Is it the Republican partys hate of Obama that is doing this? I cannot find a logical reason to do this. These cuts are not smart policy. But I guess the Republican party requires you to leave your brains at the door. Sorry just my rant, I am very angry with their actions.

Eric Cantor, a brief history of our House Majority Leader.

Eric Cantor was elected to the House of Representatives in 2001, he has served consecutively & is now the House Majority Leader. He was the House Minority WHIP from 2008-2011, the Deputy Minority WHIP from 2003-2009. As Majority Leader he was not on any committees in the 112th Congress.

Eric Cantor believed we should stand tall against Teachers Unions, put dollars into classroooms, not dollars to unions & bureaucracies. I guess he doesnt realize that Union dues come from employees paychecks. He is against earmarks, began abstaining from earmarks in 2004. In March of 2010 House Republicans passed a year long ban on earmarks. Cantor voted against Fiscal Cliff Compromise Bill, which made permanent most of the Bush tax cuts from 2001 & 2003, while raising tax rates on the highest income levels.

Representative Cantor stood against the Senate VAWA Bill, offering instead the version the House passed. Which excluded the new American Indian protections, along with those for undocumented immigrants as well as lesbians & trans women. He voted for the Protect Life Act. This Act prohibits women from buying health insurance plans that cover abortion under the ACA (Obamacare). It also makes it legal for hospitals to deny abortion to pregnant women in life threatening conditions.

He proposed the Small Business Tax Cut Act. The Tax Policy Center estimates that the top 1% would recieve an average tax cut that is 1,000 times bigger than the average tax cut for the people in the middle quintile.($23 vs. $23,000) The top 0.1% would recieve an average tax cut of more than $130,000. Half of the benefits would go to millionaires, who compromise less than one half percent of all tax payers & only 4% of small business owners according to a recent treasury study. Millionaires on average would recieve a tax cut of $45,000, almost as much as the median household income in 2010. Business owners with an annual income of less than $200,000 or less would recieve only 16%  of the benefits from Cantors bill.

He also backed down on block granting food stamps. He voted NO on providing $70 million for Section 8 housing vouchers. Voted yes on treating Religious Organizations equally for tax breaks. He voted NO on additional $10.2 billion for Federal Education & the HHS project. Voted NO on $4 million in grants for Black & Hispanic Schools. He voted YES on allowing school prayer during the War on Terror. He voted NO on extending AMT exeptions to avoid hitting middle income earners. He votrd NO on paying AMT relief by closing offshore business loopholes. Finally he voted yes on retaining reduced taxes on capital gains & dividends.

So please people dont be fooled he votes with his party 97% of the time. He is not a hero or a friend to the people. His track record suggests that he will vote party first people second. He seems to be part of the problem not the solution.
