Gabby Giffords keeps up efforts for Gun Control.

The former Arizona Congresswoman, Gabby Giffords, vwas shot in the head about 30 months ago. She recently met in New Hampshire with the parents of the children killed in the Sandy Hook massacre. They gathered to talk strategy, how to get Congress talking about Gun Control again.

Giffords, a Democrat, has become the face of the Gun Control movement. She is still recovering from injuries incurred in a 2011 attack that killed 6 others. Her and her husband, Mark Kelly, have been travelling the nation encouraging states to defy the NRA. They are trying to gain traction for legislation to expand background checks. They would also like to push for legislation for Assault Weapons Bans and High Capacity Magazine Bans.

Giffords recently formed Super-PAC and related non-profit group have ambitious plans to expabd their political clout in 2014. The group is known as Americans for Responsible Solutions and they are expected to raise $20 million for political activities and ads for the next election and the next Gun Control Vote. Up to now New York City Mayor Micheal Bloomberg has provided much of the financial support for Gun Control advocacy. His group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, has spent more than $12 million in an effort to pressure lawmakers in several states.

Despite Giffords and Bloomberg’s effort, they reportedly have not won any more votes in Congress. It seems as if the Bill has truly bogged down and will not move forward. In the lead up to the Manchin/Toomey Gun Bill vote, the NRA poured close to $400,000 into the Senators who voted against the bill. Republicans have been bashing Mayor Bloomberg for throwing his money around. It seems as if the NRA is uncomfortable going up against another lobbyist with just as much money.

Since Sandy Hook, over 4,500 have been killed by gun violence. Children have shot other children and people have been shot at gun shows. The NRA and other gun lobbyist use fear to mobilize gun rights activists. I am for children being able to live, as well as stopping at least some of the gun violence. If 20 murdered First Graders doesn’t sway Congress, what will? It seems they only support things when it hits close to home. I hope this is not what it takes, hopefully it won’t take another Elementary School massacre either.

GOP actually pays attention to Alex Jones newest conspiracy theory.

From day one Republicans were trying to find a way to remove President Obama from office. They have manufactured crises, made issues bigger than what they truly were and Filibustered more bills than at any other time in American history. In their attempts to hurt him, they have embarrassed themselves and hurt their fellow Americans.

From doctoring emails on the Benghazi attack, which they tried to make Obama’s albatross, to fighting against Gun Control for the NRA, Republicans have gone above and beyond in their efforts to destroy him. They tried to hang poor job numbers on him,  but have done nothing in the 2 years they have had the majority in the House. They have Filibustered more bills in his terms than at any other time in American history. They used the Sequester instead of closing corporate loopholes and corporate welfare.

But giving credence to Alex Jones is a new l low. This man is a crackpot who is making American journalism look like a joke. His conspiracy theories are the ravings of a lunatic. He said that the Boston Marathon Bombing was a false flag, basically saying that the government was behind it. He said that President Obama was a homosexual who had his ex-lovers killed. He has a long list that gets further and further from sanity.

His new theory is a complete joke. He believes the government has a weather weapon that it used to create the tornadoes in Oklahoma. I mean seriously, was he watching Austin Powers recently. This is Scooby Doo type stuff. There is no substance to any of his theories, just supposition and ridiculous assumptions. He makes Glenn Beck look sane and FOXNEWS felt Beck was to far gone for them.

The fact that Republicans give Alex Jones credence shows the desperation they truly feel. They thought for sure they would win the 2012 election, they lost; but don’t seem to realize it. Republicans have lost touch with reality in their attempts to oust the Democrats. If Democrats start acting like these nutjobs, I will walk away from the party. I am a Democrat because they help the people and remain sane when the other party is in power. These are grown, educated men and women who are acting the fool. Grow up and think of country first and maybe things will get better quicker.

NRA supports reconendation to put a gun in your kids room.

What you are about to read is true, it happened at the NRA’s 142nd Annual Meeting. It shows that guns mean more than children to the NRA, which I find baffling even for a lobbyist for the gun manufacturers. The NRA just keeps getting worse.

Gun owners should store a gun in their KIDS room, according to a ” Home Defense Concepts” seminar offered at the NRA’s 142nd Annual Meeting. This cones just 2 days after the fatal shooting of a 2 year old by his 5 year old brother. The course was taught by Rob Pincushion, who owns the popular firearm company I.C.E. training. Pincushion argued that in the event of a home invasion, patents would instinctively run to their childrens room anyway, they might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Pincushion said ” How about putting a quick access safe in your kids room? Good idea or bad idea? We have an emotional pushback to that. Here is my position on this, if you are worried that your kid is going to try to break into the safe that is in your bedroom with a gun in it, you have bigger problems than home defense. If you think that the kid who is going to break into the safe because it ‘s in their room, isn’t sneaking into your room to try to break into stuff, you are naive and have bigger problems than this. So lets settle that issue and think about it. In the middle of the night, if I am in the bathroom or getting a glass of water or in the bedroom or watching TV in the living room, if that alarm goes off and the glass breaks and the dog starts barking, whats the instinct most people are going to have. In regards to am I going to run across the house to get the gun or am I going to run over and help the screaming kid? And if I am going to the kid anyway, and I have an extra gun and an extra safe, why not put it in the kids closet?” Pincus teaches an intruder defense course at schools across the country. This guy obviously should not care for children.

Defensive gun use against home invasions are extremely rare. Many of the statistics used by the NRA are basedon mathematically impossible calculations. The best available evidence suggests that almost all criminals hit by gunfire are shot by other criminals. However, roughly 900 kids were killed by guns, suicides or accidents. A RAND Institute study found that only 39% of parents who own guns kept their guns locked, unloaded and seperate from ammunition. Any child killed because of this irresponsibility should fall directly on those parents and they should be jailed.

This us from a lobbyist that is supported by the Republicans. I guess Republican irresponsibility goes hand in hand with the NRA’s blatant ignorance. Despite Democrats best efforts to pass Gun Control through background checks, assault weapon bans and high capacity magazine bans, they have been stopped on all. The Republicans with NRA money have denied 90% of Americans their Democratric rights. These Senators will lose their jobs and hopefully be replaced by someone who sees sense.

The good, the bad, the Republicans.

There have been many bleak moments in the wake of the Great Recession. These are moments when you wonder if Republicans have a soul left. As a whole their morals have been compromised and right and wrong seem to mean little to them. Not just Republican lawmakers but their supporters as well. You cannot disagree or debate without them calling you names and veering from fact into supposition to blatant lies.

Republicans attacked then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over the Benghazi tragedy. But while attacking and blaming her they neglected to mention that they cut close to a half billion dollars out of the amount the Obama administration asked for to guard embassies. They say it was not a pressing issue. But it is when they have a chance to tarnish her image. Paul Ryans budgets and their blatant attacks on the poor, while cutting taxes for the rich. His budget repeals Obamacare yet keeps the money it saves to balance his budget, seriously.

The blatantly lie to the American people. Republicans voted against VAWA yet tell people they voted for it, we can look these things up. They have tried to block, through the filibuster, anything Obama has tried to do. Yet they claim that they don’t abuse the filibuster, they have used it more with him in office than at any other time in history. They forced the Sequester, blamed Obama, yet said that it was what they wanted. Voted against raising the minimum wage, equal pay for women, and Obamas Jobs Bill. In the 2 years they held the majority in the House they created zero jobs, in fact they caused more job losses.

But the absolute kicker is the Manchin/Toomey Gun Bill. This basically gave them everything they wanted, 90% of the American people wanted it, yet Republicans and 5 Democrats voted to filibuster it. These would have appeased the public. Yet they say they didn’t like it because it might create a gun registry. That us a LIE! OUTRIGHT BLATANT LIE! It explicitely said that anyone, federal agents included, caught creating a gun registry would get 15 years in prison.

Universal Background Checks, Assault Weapon Bans and High Capacity Magazines were all shot down. This after 20 kids were shot at Sandy Hook. The parents of the children spoke to Senators and the Senators still voted along corporate lines. Now many are not even speaking with the parents now. What does that say about the morals of our esteemed leaders. They know they are wrong yet continue to do it. The indifference of good men creates greater evil.

NRA is having there 142 annual convention, a nut jobs paradise.

These conventions have speakers, including Ted Nugent,  who said if President Obama was reelected he would he dead or in jail. Of course that was untrue. There will be a lot of gun sellers selling a lot of guns. It is a gathering of people who believe the 2nd Amendment takes precedence over all others in the Bill of Rights.

Outside the convention center will be another politically powerful group. Survivors of Gun Violence and Families of Gun Violence victims including one relative of a Sandy Hook victims. They will be reading put loud the 4,000 names of people killed by guns this year. These groups are becoming a thorn in the NRAs side.

Many of the Senators who voted against the Manchin/Toomey Gun Bill that supporter Universal Backgrounds Checks. The drops in approval have been between 6-19% and have these Senators scrambling to make up for this loss in momentum. The NRA has plastered Congress with their lobbying cash and have stopped Senator Dianne Fienstiens Assault Weapons Ban and High Capacity Magazine Ban. Their main attack dog on that one is Canadian born Senator Ted Cruz.

A bit off subject here, but Republicans, Tea Party and conservatives kept asking for President Obama’s birth certificate. We already know that Ted Cruz was born in Canada to an America citizen and a father who was born in Cuba. Yet he is being touted as a Presidential hopeful by these wackadoos.

The NRA has spent a lot of money in recent elections, mostly in 2012. But there money is not getting results, there success rate is about 25%. Not really worth the money they are spending. But this is what lobbyists do, they use money to move a vote in to their direction.

As far as I know there is not any Democrats speaking at the convention. They rely on inconsequential people who have nothing to do with politics. Sarah Palin is a favorite among these well adjusted people. Sarah Paling has never done anything to help any Americans. But I guess they have to take what they can get to satisfy the nutjobs.

Why can’t we get Gun Control passed?

A well REGULATED Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed upon.

That one sentence and 27 words included within it have been perverted by the NRA. The NRA which is a lobbyist group representing the gun manufacturers has threatened to withdraw support from any Congressmen voting for Universal Background Checks. 90% of Americans supported background checks, yet we could not get past a filibuster vote.

When speaking with NRA supporters they seem to only know the second part of the 2nd Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed upon. They conveniently leave the word REGULATE out. Regulate means to control or supervise by means of rules and regulations. Why would the NRA leave that out? It doesn’t work in their favor, if course.

If we are to regulate something, in most cases it is a government agency that would do so. So in thus case I believe the ATF would qualify. We already have a Militia, our National Guard. So we don’t need a militia. I don’t believe there have been any armed conflicts between states. Federal law is Constitutionally the law of the land. Either way according to the Second Amendment should be someone overlooking the weapons people have.

Senator Kelly Ayote, who voted against background checks, said she did so because it might create a Gun Registery. Which the Manchin/Toomey bill expressly said if anyone, including government agents, did so they would be convicted and spend up to 15 years in prison. Here is what confuses me. We have to register our car, have insurance on our car and home, but we don’t have to register or have insurance on a gun. Guns were made to kill things.

After Sandy Hook, where 20 kids were brutally massacred, I like most Americans believe something needs to be done. Special interests and lobbyist should not have more power than the people. I did not see anywhere in the Constitution where it said we couldn’t have a gun registery. Lets make one, legal gun owners have no worries, just criminals. No one is going to take your gun, they haven’t taken gas guzzling cars from people. People need to use their heads and not believe all the bolahna the NRA pushes. President Obama is on the right side, most Democrats are on the side of the people, while of course Republicans side with corporate cash. 90% of the people can’t be wrong.

Can gun violence really be blamed on movies and video games?

The NRA and Republicans continuing trying to blame movies and video games for mass killings and gun violence. I know when I play a violent video game no one geyser killed but the fake people on the screen. Just like watching a violent movie doesn’t cause any deaths, other than the fake on screen ones.

Our society has changed drastically over my lifetime. Morals have changed, that alone causes people to think differently. We live in a society where the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. Where the poor are demonized as leeches who suck the life out of government and the rich made all their money by themselves. All of these things contribute to a desperation in the poorer communities that causes a lot of crimes.

Mental illness also seems more prevelant. Remember Reagan throwing people out of hospitals that helpers with mental issues. Many people do not have health insurance because they cannot afford it. This leaves people in a bad spot, unable to get help or medicine to assist them with their mental issues. Thus also leads to violent crimes.

Drugs are also very common in the poorer neighborhoods. Selling drugs seems to some to be their way out of struggles. The upward mobility in this country is almost non-existent. Corporations are making millions, but still not hiring, and if they do it is part time with no benefits. This leaves people scrambling just as bad.

The 2 common denominators here are poor people and guns. But mass killings aren’t being done by poor people. That removes one denominator and only leaves GUNS. If we take steps to make it more difficult to get a gun, just like Republicans are doing with abortion, maybe we can prevent deaths. Background checks can weed out criminals and others with mental problems. Assault Weapons Bans keeps those weapons in police and soldiers hands. High Capacity Magazine Bans save lives by making them change clips.

Democrats cannot let the NRA win on this. We must bring it up fir vote again very soon and show them the people are important. 90% of us want it and we will get it. We are Democracy, corporations are not.
